The aim of this article is to show the importance of the estimating costs of risk factors within structures of the logistics chain in metallurgical industry. For enterprises operating in the metallurgical market it means a necessity to create new terms for cooperation, based on various segments of customers. Logistics services providers are those links that are included in the structure of efficient logistics chains.In the opinion of the author, the risk management in logistic chain has significant influence on the key processes of a metallurgical industry and value added understood as an earned net income. The complex identification and quantification of the processes form the grounds for the identification of risk factors and, what follows, for the implementation of the risk management system into the logistic processes in metallurgical industry.To verify this purpose, theoretical research tools were used, such as: analysis, synthesis, generalization and comparison. The scope of practical methods comprised the following: the observation method (to gather information about partners of the logistics chain at Huta Małapanew Sp. z o.o., interviews with employees, determining the interferences within and across the selected links) and the calculation and analytical methods (the analysis of characterisation principle). Created by the author, parameterization model using the apparatus of mathematical logic should be applicable, particularly using task functions in the description of cause and effect relationship as well as structural relationships that are so characteristic to the business nature of metallurgical industry.Therefore, the main scientific objective is to show a significant difference between total and actual costs of the occurrence of risk factors in logistic processes realized in metallurgical industry.
