The impact of thermal destruction of molding sands with the reclaim and furan resin at the emission of compounds from the BTEX group (benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene and xylenes) and PAHs is presents. The complex research methodology for assessing of reclamation degree of the used moulding sands with furan resin in terms of quartz matrix contamination with organic compounds was developed. The authors have got own knowledge concerning the composition and amount of gases generated during thermal destruction sand mould made from new sand. The reached results enable to determine the maximum amount of reclaim added to the molding sand that gives no consequences of deterioration of the quality of castings, working and environmental conditions. Investigations were performed in laboratory scale of sample sizes. Investigations of the gases emission in the test foundry plant were performed according to the original method developed in the Faculty of Foundry Engineering, AGH UST in Krakow - Poland and in Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy in Gliwice-Poland. An evidence was gathered that dependence of the emitted substances amounts on the reclaim fraction has a linear character with a very high correlation coefficient. Emission values of substances from both tested groups is in a good agreement with loss of ignition of moulding sands. Similarity of dependences of the BTEX, PAHs emissions and loss on ignition the reclaim fraction in the moulding sand (in case of sands with organic binders), provides the grounds for the sands harmfulness assessment on the bases of the determined ignition losses.
